Family members and peers transmit the thin ideal message to individuals in direct or indirect ways. Just simply having a conversation about what is in a magazine or on television can put ideas into an individual’s head that whatever that person is wearing is what they need to also wear to feel popular. With that said next time you comment on what someone is wearing whether you mean to or not think about what you say and who you say it to. You never know who may be feeling like they are unpopular because they don’t look like someone else.
